Choreography & Musical Staging

Born in London, Aletta studied at the London Contemporary Dance School and was a dancer and choreographer for London Contemporary Dance Theatre.

She is a former Associate Artist at the Royal Opera House, where her work included choreographing and directing The Red Balloon, Cocteau Voices and Magical Night in the Linbury Studio Theatre.

Aletta’s choreographic work includes: Made In Dagenham (Adelphi Theatre); La Traviata (Glyndebourne Festival/UK Tour); Anna Nicole (Mark-Anthony Turnage and Richard Thomas’ World Premiere at the Royal Opera House/Brooklyn Academy of Music); The Effect, His Dark Materials (National Theatre); Jesus Christ Superstar (West End); Doctor Dolittle (Apollo Hammersmith); Honk! (Scarborough/National Theatre/Boston USA) and the Olivier Award winning The Tempest (Thomas Adès World Premiere) for the Royal Opera House.

Recent music videos include “Always Be With You” by Walking on Cars, “Holding onto Heaven” by Foxes and “Losing Myself” by Will Young, for which she won Best Choreographer at the 2012 UK Music Video Awards.

Aletta has also directed La Fanciulla del West, Dido and Aeneas, La Voix Humaine and Les Noces (Opera North); Carmen (Salzburg Festival) and Philip Pullman’s Aladdin (Bristol Old Vic).
